it’s going to be easy
finding someone new
you’ll drift along awhile
cry your tears inside
laugh and smile outside
it’s going to be easy
once your eyes meet
the moment stretching
straight into eternity
before breaking back
it’s going to be easy
learning from your past
as you step forward
heart in hand but unafraid
willing and free
I had a great time on Saturday night with my friends Missy & Jessica. We went to the Oracle Arena for Hot Country Nights. Dierks Bentley was the headliner with “special guest” Blake Shelton and opening acts Luke Bryan and Michelle Branch. We arrived after Michelle Branch’s set. She must have had a short set or started early because we were in our seats at 6pm and the show was supposed to start at 5:30pm and she was nowhere in sight. Hmmm.
Can’t say I’m a big Luke Bryan fan but he had a good set. I know a couple of his songs. He did a nice snippet of “Enter Sandman” for the Bay Area folks. Great touch. lol!
Ahh, Blake Shelton. He was great! I really enjoyed his set a lot. He had a fantastic mix of upbeat and slower tunes.
I especially liked “Ol’ Red” and “Austin” of course. And his cover of “Escape” was rather delightful. LOL! He lost me a bit with songs like “Redneck Girl” and “Hillbilly Bone” but I can relate to songs like “She Wouldn’t Be Gone.” All in all, I really enjoyed him and would have been happy if he had been the headliner. 🙂
That said, Dierks Bentley was fantastic! I love his voice and his songs are great. I enjoyed watching him! I first saw him a couple of years ago when he opened up for Mr. George Strait. He had seemed a little stiff and distant from the crowd. Maybe it was just me but I didn’t enjoy him back then as much as I thought I would considering I loved his songs. Dierks was much better this time. 🙂 I absolutely loved his set.
I like his songs and I like the way his voice sounds singing those songs. He sings about savoring moments, then leaving because at heart he’s a drifter. There’s just something appealing about that kind of yearning.
There was a drunk guy who decided it would be cool to stand through a lot of Dierks’ set. And if he had been dancing and such, I wouldn’t have minded so much but he was swaying back and forth or just standing there like he was going to get sick. And he was blocking my view!
either dance or sit your ass down buddy!
Other than that, it was a great show all the way around and I really enjoyed it. It was great hanging out with my friends listening to boys sing country music. Oh, and I just love the cowboy look on some of the fellas. lol!
I hope everyone watched CHUCK tonight! 😉
