It’s been a year since I first met Tyler Rich and saw him perform live at Ace of Spades in Sacramento. He was the first act of three, the headliner being the 2015 ACM New Artist of the Year Cole Swindell. Even though I was miffed that Sam Hunt didn’t win the ACM New Artist of the Year, I bought tickets to that Cole Swindell show because Tyler was opening and I wanted to meet him. Who knew that a whim would lead to new friends and a very cherished artist/fan connection?
I was oddly nervous meeting Tyler that first time. I might have stumbled over my words a little bit but he was so sweet and lovely and our moment was worth waiting in line with the warm sun on my back. Watching him perform live that first time was a great experience because it was the really the first time I’d been so close to the stage for a show and Tyler was amazing with just the microphone, his guitar, and his voice.
From the first time meeting Tyler in Sacramento to the recent outings, it’s been a great ride. So much of it has been absolutely positive. Tyler is a wonderfully talented artist and a lovely and respectful man. Online, he responds to fans and he shares bits of his life with us. In person, he’s generous with his time and always easy to approach. On stage, he’s utterly mesmerizing and energetic and engaging.
I know I’ve been lucky in so many ways to be able to see him as often as I have. I know that someday I’ll look back on these moments and be so happy that I had them. But I’ll always want more. More music, more performances, more fans for him, more chances to see him in person– I will always want all of that and MORE.
I love being one of Tyler’s fans. I love talking about him and steering my friends to him. I love when those friends report back to tell me that he’s so awesome and talented and fantastic on stage. I love posting about him and meeting new people because of him. It’s just now part of me to spread the love for him because he and his music are meant to be out there in the world. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him as an artist and for us as his fans…
