TWITL – week forty-nine – what next

I’m always slight adrift after writing for National Novel Writing Month. After writing for a whole month on a deadline with a word count, suddenly have all this “free” time just feels oddly confining. Do I continue with another installment of the novel? (Right now, I want to write more to my latest story and I know I have some interesting bits I can add before getting the characters to “happily ever after” as they are merely “happy for now.”) Do I go back to the story I was writing before NaNoWriMo? (I was only maybe halfway through another novel before I started writing the NaNoWriMo novel and I do want to finish the story for those characters.) Do I write something totally new and different, maybe a short story? (I actually already started writing another story and I have NO idea where it’s going. Hell, the characters don’t even have any names yet.) Part of me thinks that perhaps I should take a break from conjuring new stories and just read a book or two…

my latest 1888 Design piece

My latest piece from 1888 Design arrived! This is my first bracelet from the site. I serious LOVE all the pieces I’ve found there. If you love unique, repurposed materials turned into lovely pieces, definitely check out 1888 Design.

The Bay Area is under a Stay at Home order for the next few weeks. Our numbers have been horrendous the past few weeks. The biggest bummer is that a lot of businesses need to close during this stay at home order. It’s hurting so many small businesses right now and it’s so disheartening. I don’t like seeing our favorite places suffer and I hope that they are able to survive until we can open up again. I feel extremely lucky that we are still working and able to pay our bills. It’s not like in March when the world felt crazy and uncertain. We have that experience now to better handle the weeks ahead.

I am very much enjoying my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The camera is definitely amazing and I should use my tripod and take some night shots and such sometime. Maybe the next full moon. Not quite sure it gets dark enough here for me to take night sky photos. I’ll try it one of these days.

Warner Brothers will be releasing their 2021 movies on HBO Max and movie theatres concurrently. I’m sort of excited! We already have HBO Max, so that’s a super big PLUS. Of course, if our movie theatres open up again and it’s safe, I’ll got to the theatre to watch some movies. And then, for my second and third viewings, I can do that at home. Or vice versa? Wonder Woman 1984 comes out on Christmas Day so that’s definitely on the list to watch that day. Will this be a new thing? Is this the death knell for movie theatres? I hope it’s not the harbinger of the end of movie theatres because I love going to the movies, even if I’m alone. But perhaps it’s something born out of my youth working at a movie theatre. Hmm…

I remember when I used to sit and write out my Christmas cards. I haven’t sent cards in years. Now I don’t send any at all. I love receiving cards but I haven’t mustered the energy to even buy any to send out. Maybe I should do the online thing– create the card online and mail out from there. There are some great services out there for that kind of stuff. Maybe next year. Maybe.

I just found out that one of my high school classmates died today. I was on Facebook and saw a post written from his account. He had a stroke on Friday and died this afternoon. I don’t even know the last time I saw him and in my head, I still see him as the person I knew in high school. And even then, we didn’t really know each other. He had two young sons and my heart is so sad for them. Alas…

Wear a mask, wash your hands, keep your distance. We’ll get through this…
