It’s Monday, Memorial Day, and we really didn’t do too much outside of the house this weekend, which has been very nice. We did go out on Saturday for a bit of food and drinks then headed back home.
TV
Halo – Season 1 is in the books and I enjoyed it. The last two episodes did not feature the character that annoyed me the most, which was a relief, even though the episode focusing on her allowed me to relent a touch on her. I still find her incredibly annoying. I think having known nothing about the game gave me the chance to watch the series without any preconceived notions. Did it help? I’m not sure. I’m glad there’s a second season in the works…
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – I really like this show. The whole vibe just works for me. I am digging Ethan Peck as Spock. There is just something about him. I’m not the only one, am I?
Obi-Wan Kenobi – Part of me wonders why this show was necessary but after watching the first two episodes, I’m glad it’s out there. The little girl was a delight! I hope she’s in more episodes.
Stranger Things – Season 4 volume 1 is out! We watched the season over this long weekend. It feels like so long since the previous season that some of the callbacks to past events had me feeling slightly lost. The feeling was fleeting. I liked this volume and I think it held my attention better than season three. I’m glad we only have to wait a month for the second volume.
I am into this vinyl revival. The turntable and speakers are set up and we’ve been listening to our albums and 45s. (Well, my 45s.) It’s been great listening to music on vinyl. There is something different about listening to vinyl. For me, there’s a lot of nostalgia when listening to records, especially the ones I’ve had forever. I have records that are DECADES old and they still sound great. It’s amazing how durable vinyl can be if you take good care.
We’re trying out T-Mobile as our home internet. If all goes well, we’re going to say goodbye to Xfinity. Fingers crossed! It’ll be great to cut the cord (again).
MOVIES
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore – When did this premiere on HBO Max? It must have been this weekend. We just watched it tonight. I liked it well enough but it doesn’t have the whimsy of the Harry Potter movies, even when those got a bit serious. Is this the last of these movies or are they going for the five films plan? It could end with this third one and I wouldn’t mind so much if it did…
