As I write, it’s the last day of summer. Doesn’t really matter because it’s supposed to be lower 90s tomorrow and Tuesday. Then we get into the 80s. Yeah, summer weather is going to linger. Sweater weather in a couple of weeks? Let’s hope!
Friday evening was the Liberty High School 2025 Homecoming Parade. Love our town’s parades! They are fun to watch, especially when you know people in the parade. The Homecoming Parade features school clubs/groups, the homecoming court, city dignitaries, district and school employees, and city groups. My new supervisor was in the parade, throwing out candy for the kids.
We had a great spot to watch the parade roll by. The temperatures were a bit warm but there was lovely breeze and we were in the shade, which made it quite pleasant. I really enjoyed the marching band– so cool! Sometimes I wish I had joined the marching band when I was in high school as I did play the flute but it wasn’t in my life’s plans at the time. 😛 I do appreciate when I see them in the parades. Liberty’s marching band is fantastic.
Can you tell we’re a little “small town” out this way? It’s nice and still feels a bit of a novelty to me because I didn’t grow up in such a community. I hope the people out here know how lucky they are to live out here. It can be close knit, if you’d like it to be…
The iPhone 17 series launched this weekend. Ever since the keynote, we had been watching different videos from our favorite tech reviewers. The iPhone Air looks rather intriguing but the battery life would likely turn me off, along with the one lens camera. The iPhone 17 has definitely gained some good additions like ProMotion and those neat-oh colors. The iPhone 17 Pro is the one that catches my eye, of course. The Cosmic Orange color is almost obscene but I’d probably very much consider that one, if I was in the market.
We did end up at the Apple Store on Saturday to pick up a pre-ordered iPhone 17 Pro, Deep Blue. (Not for me!) We’ve never gone to the Apple Store on launch weekend and wow, it was a little WILD. I say wild but honestly, it was just that there were SO MANY PEOPLE. The staff did a great job of crowd control so even though there were a lot of folks milling about, it never felt like random chaos. Good on them! We had to wait a few minutes for them to bring out the order and I chatted with the young staff member. Wonder if he was glad that we didn’t have any questions because I’m sure some of the customers out there were total newbs.
I was hoping to pick up the AirPods Pro 3 while we were there but alas, they were sold out already. Yowsa! I ended up ordering a pair with personalization. I personalized with my memoji! How cute is that? It’ll be a couple of weeks or so before it gets to me but I don’t mind.
My latest order from Cowboy Tears arrived with a little surprise! I ordered the two bandanas from the latest collection but a pair of socks made their way to me as well. 😀 Sabina personalized one of the cards to me with sweet words. I do so adore her very much. Can’t wait to wear them after they’re washed.
The random in bullet form:
- My niece joined Instagram! She’s managed to stay off social media for all her years but she’ll have news to share in the coming days and she’s chosen IG. Good choice, if you ask me. Once she makes it official, I will be lowkey bragging about her. 😉
- I’m on the last book of the 4-book loan of romances I took from the library. So far, there’s a lot of internal thinking for the characters. Oh, and it starts off with the fella handcuffed to a bed and the lady pointing a gun at him when he wakes up. Never had a Harlequin start off like that, I tell ya!
- Robert Redford died the other day. The loving and sweet tributes to him were a balm to the heart. He lived a life of kindness and love, all of which were returned in tenfold from those who adored him. I’m going to have to watch some of his older work in the coming days.
- One more week of week and then it’s Fall Break (for the kiddos). I’m taking three strategically placed days off so as to have long weekends. I love being able to take time off during the breaks. Long weekends are life!
- Speaking of work, HR put out a listing for an open position and it’s for someone who’s been with the district office almost as long as I have! I’m a little shocked but perhaps not surprised. She’s going to do amazing at her next spot but I know I’m going to miss her. Oh, so many changes.
We’ve got Battleship on right now. Taylor Kitsch! Alexander Skarsgård! Hawaii! It’s got everything you can want in a movie. 😉
