three weeks in

The third week of the 2025-26 school year was noticeably calmer than weeks one and two. I was able to get through some of my mundane duties at my desk, which I did not mind. If only the students would behave!

TV/MOVIES

watching Star trek

Star Trek Trilogy: The Kelvin Timeline – This weekend we popped in our 4k editions of Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond. All of the movies definitely still hold up and look great in 4k. I must say, I will always love watching Chris Pine as Jim Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. And Karl Urban as Bones is always the biggest highlight for me. It never fails that whenever I watch Karl in something, I think, “Hmm, he kissed me… on the cheek.” I appreciate all three movies and they always entertain. The music is fantastic too…

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – I look forward to this show every week and I’m so glad we’re watching every week, as opposed to saving our watch to after all the episodes drop. This week’s episode featured James T. Kirk, which gave me a chance to study the character a bit and I had moments of, “So this Kirk is going to somehow turn into the Kirk of the TOS?” And I questioned the notion a bit. This is nothing against Paul Wesley, who is doing a good job on playing the character but I’m finding that he’s missing the swagger of Shatner’s Kirk or even Pine’s Kirk (alternate universe notwithstanding). Am I to imagine that SNW’s Kirk is going to grow and change? Was this episode supposed to show us this? Even though I like the novelty of seeing SNW’s version of Kirk, I feel the more interaction he has with his future crew, the more it could affect the continuity of this “prime” universe. After all, this Kirk and Spock and Uhura and Scotty are supposed to eventually be the next primary crew of the Enterprise. Regardless, I’m happy to have SNW. I love this crew and their adventures have me hooked…

SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP 7

I am very much enjoying my Z Flip 7. I discovered that I can use videos as my AOD wallpaper, which cycles through a set of photos and now, videos. Neat-oh! I’m taking my time personalizing the Z Flip 7 and having fun discovering different things about it.

I’m finding that I’m saving a lot of my fangirl finds on my Z Flip 7. The phone is filling up with pictures and videos of Riley Green. I’ve even saved pics of Jensen Ackles and Sebastian Stan. I can’t even remember the last time I saved pics of Jensen and the save of S. Stan was a whim.

I finally named my Z Flip 7– Nymeria. If you know where I got that name, good for you! Not sure if it’ll hold but It’s better than “VC’s Z Flip 7” as its name. So bland.

Some photos taken on the Z Flip 7 during the week:

Random stuff…

  • My writing has seriously stalled. I can’t seem to get to the finish line on the one story and I almost forgot I had another story waiting to be written. Should I work on that one while I’m stuck on the other one? I dunno. Maybe.
  • Work has definitely calmed down a bit but of course the students just can’t behave. Alas.
  • I just checked my Amazon account and my pre-order of the steelbook for Superman is set to deliver in September. SWEET GOODNESS!
  • Riley Green announced a deluxe version of his album, Don’t Mind if I Do, and OF COURSE I had to order the vinyl (it’s green, damn it!) AND pre-order the digital. All for six new songs. I’m so weak. And apparently he’s a magnet to my wallet.
  • Why do I find comfort in listening to OPM? I’m lucky if I understand half the lyrics but I find that the music just satisfies in a way I can’t fully explain.
  • My dreams have been odd lately…
watching Star Trek Beyond

Sunday night always arrives too soon. It’ll be a short work week for me because we see Tyler Rich on Thursday. Yah!
