The last week of summer break has ended. It was my first full week of work until Labor Day. It’s going to be a long month upcoming. Can the weather at least cool down a bit?
Friday was Convocation! I always enjoy going to Convocation because 1) I get to be away from the office for a bit and 2) I get to see everyone out of context. It was actually a nice day out and it was lovely to see everyone hopeful for a good upcoming school year. I took the time to look around the main admin building and visit with the registrar, which was great!
MOVIES
Deadpool and Wolverine (in theatres) – WOW, what a fun movie! It’s definitely a Deadpool movie with its humor and irreverence. And it’s also the best things about Wolverine turned on its head. I LOVED it. It was funny, it was action packed, it was violent, it was adventuresome. And have I said that it’s funny? Some of the cameos were unexpected but oh so welcome. Two of the cameos were especially fun for me. I would definitely recommend the movie, especially if you’re a Deadpool fan who has watched a lot of Marvel, Sony, and MCU movies, along with one or two of the Disney+ series…
We watched Deadpool and Wolverine at the newly renovated Delta Theater. It is so much nicer than it was before– recliner seats and clean bathrooms with good plumbing. Their ticketing situation still entails real paper tickets even when buying ahead of time. I hope they figure out something better than what they have now.
American Fiction – This one is streaming on Amazon Prime. What a fantastic movie! It wasn’t at all what I expected and I really very much enjoyed it. So well done and I totally get why Jeffrey Wright was nominated for an Academy Award. Definitely a good watch.
Finally got my permanent crown. My appointment was on Thursday and it went well enough. It was a short appointment compared to the root canal and the fitting for the crown. I’ve finally started chewing on that side of my mouth but I’m still a little ginger about it. The crown feels much better than the temporary one. I suppose this whole ordeal is reminding me to keep up with my dental care.
I am not ready for summer break to end yet here we are. Here’s to a good start to the new school year!
