Friday was September 20th aka iPhone Day!
Oh, how anxious I was waiting for Friday. I tried not to think about it too much but when I did, I was a mix of excitement and impatience. It was definitely a test of keeping myself even-keeled.
My everyday case from Peak Design arrived on Monday and I opened it with much delight. So pretty! And of course I had to get the green one. Having the case before the phone just had me more anxious for the phone.
My new gear from Cowboy Tears also arrived on Monday! This time it was the 11:11 bandana and Green Daddy cap. LOVE the cap because I of course bought the green one. It’s lovely and I plan on wearing it on Sabina’s birthday. 😉
I took Friday off from work because I knew that I’d have to sign for my delivery and that UPS would not just leave the phone on the porch. The four days of work just seemed to drag even as I tried not to think about how I was going to have a new phone by the end of the week. I waited until Thursday after work to try and clean up some of the photos from my iPhone 14 Pro Max so that the backup wouldn’t be so big but I ended up just transferring wireless from phone to phone as opposed to backing up from iCloud.
The UPS app didn’t start showing the map tracking until after 1PM. The truck was so close! My delivery actually arrived within the window shown of 2:15 PM – 4:15 PM, which was much appreciated. When I saw the truck was on the street behind our place, I got excited because there was no chance the drive wasn’t going to go up my street, right? Right!
Because I was watching the app, when the UPS truck finally arrived, I was on my feet and ready to answer the door. The driver rang the bell and knocked and, like in a tv show, I answered the door within ten seconds. 😀 He said that I must have been waiting for him and I agreed. He commented that it was good I was home to sign because the other deliveries he had went back into his truck when there was no one to sign. We both sort of shook our heads for those unlucky ones and then I had my delivery in my hands. Glorious!
I have watched so many YouTube videos of the unboxing of the iPhone but my unboxing was rather ordinary. Everything is straightforward so it was a quick and easy affair. In no time at all, I had the phone unboxed. I ordered the iPhone 16 Pro in Desert Titanium. Although it’s bigger than the previous Pros, it’s smaller than my iPhone 14 Pro Max. In hand, I can definitely feel the difference in size and weight. Since I am almost always wearing my readers when I look at my phone for prolonged sessions, the display size isn’t really much different to me.
I opted to transfer my data wirelessly, phone to phone. It took HOURS. I know I could have backed up from iCloud but I had the time to do it wirelessly. When the transfer was finally done, it was pretty much bedtime. I played around with it for a little bit before calling it a night.
We didn’t get out in time for farmers market on Saturday so no corn in a cup and $5 mimosas for me. Instead, I had a Pinot Grigio at the wine bar then a cider at BCBC.
I just realized that I didn’t take any outdoor shots besides my selfie. Oh well, I have many opportunities to do that and I’m sure I’ll post those on the future. So far, the shots I’ve taken look decent enough. I’m still enthralled with Halide so I need to be more mindful to check out the native camera.
Oh, and while I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro, R decided to the Apple Watch 10 from the Apple Watch Ultra. So yes, that means I got the big watch! I’ve looked upon it with a touch of envy since he got it and now it’s mine. I’m excited because it looks like it *mostly* stays unlocked when it’s over a tattoo. I say mostly because right before I typed the previous sentence, the watch decided to lock. So annoying! It seems to have a better go of it on the right wrist but I want to be able to wear the watch on either wrist depending on which tattoo I want to feature throughout my day. It’s big and might look a little ridiculous on my wrist but I don’t care. I like it. So Dick Tracy, don’t you think?
MOVIES
Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1974 – The trio of Red Riding movies is on sale at iTunes and we bought them on a whim. We watched the first one, starring Andrew Garfield, and it was interesting. It felt more like a mood piece, with plot points more like clues we had to put together and figure out on our own. They did a great job with the look and feel of the time period as the cars and clothes seemed period accurate.
TV
Agatha All Along – Ohh, what a great start to this one! I’m very glad that they dropped the first two episodes because it helped to hook me for sure. I was always going to watch the show but it’s even better when it captures the imagination from the beginning. I would definitely recommend it and advise watching WandaVision for a bit more context. 😉
My new watchband arrived today and I managed to size it correctly. I had to take out seven links. I have a small wrist, I suppose. I like how it looks. Looks a bit more watch-like, hmm?
One more week of work then fall break is upon us. I’m a twelve month employee, so the breaks don’t really mean much unless the holidays are part of them. That said, the breaks without holidays means it’s a good time to take off a day here and there, which is what I’m going to do. So I am definitely looking forward to fall break because it means long weekends for me!
Have a great week, y’all!
