I didn’t write here all week and here we are at Sunday. Shall it be more words than pictures or vice versa? Hmm, let’s see how it goes.
APPLE TIME
It’s time for a new iPhone! I’ve been on the two year rotation with my iPhones since the my iPhone 7 Plus, so this year means a new one for me. I’m currently rockin’ the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which has served me well but wasn’t so different from my iPhone 12 Pro Max. If I had USB-C on my current phone, I could have probably held on for another year. I did momentarily considered waiting until next year to upgrade but besides the USB-C, I also want a smaller phone.
Apple had their event on Monday (which was a change from their previous years of having it on the Tuesday) and I was glad to see that the iPhone 16 Pro would have the same camera as the Max. Sweet! I know that I’m sacrificing battery life, which was another reason I’ve chosen the Max these past two times, but I carry a battery pack to ease my anxiety. Thursday evening, we set up the pre-order and all I had to do was wake up by 5 AM on Friday to complete the order. By 5:03 AM on Friday, my purchase was complete. iPhone 16 Pro in desert titanium will be mine! I am excited!
I’ve already ordered my case (the everyday case from Peak Design). I actually ordered BEFORE I ordered the phone so the case will be there before the phone. This is probably a good thing because I won’t be forced to walk around with my iPhone naked. Naked iPhones are a bad idea for me.
Now waiting for delivery…
HOMECOMING PARADE
Friday evening was Liberty High School’s Homecoming Parade and since it was going through downtown, we headed that way and settled in the patio of the wine bar. It was fun watching the floats and the cars drive by. I saw people from work! The marching band was probably my favorite. The FFA float was pretty sweet too.
It’s always nice to see the community come together for some family fun like the parades. I love all the people watching as well as seeing people I know. These are the times when living here really does feel small town in the best way. I love that we live close enough to walk downtown and then walk back home, which is what we did on Friday night.
We checked out The Yard for their soft opening. It’s set to be a casual, outdoor gathering place with food. They had hamburgers and fries on the menu on Friday night. There were a lot of people checking it out and it was boisterous and noisy. It’s definitely going to be a place to visit for families.
- My latest IG pattern is the first that’s nearly non-fangirl. Does the picture with Tyler count as a fangirl shot? Let’s say no. And this is probably the first time I’ve had nine posts in a row that were multiple shots. Interesting. Well, it’s interesting to me. 😉
- The Mummy & The Mummy Returns – It’s been years since I’ve watched the Brendan Fraser/Rachel Weisz movies but after seeing Threads posts of someone discovering the movies, I wanted to watch them again. We watched them this past week and WOW, those movies still hold up. They are adventuresome, thrilling, sassy and sweet, and just crazy fun. I was so struck by how GORGEOUS everyone was in the movies. The special effects were of their time but still looked good in most instances. (The Scorpion King looked a bit like a video game character, yikes!) Not sure how hyped I am to watch the third movie, especially since Rachel Weisz isn’t in it and I remember not caring for it, but I am a bit of a completist so I’ll probably sit for it.
- Blue Grafitti by Calahan Skogman – I’ve started this book and it’s been interesting so far. I almost want to use my Audible credit for the audiobook but maybe after I’ve read the book. It’s the kind of read that demands focus, which I don’t mind. There is already a richness and depth to the writing that I am already enjoying.
Next time I write here, I’ll have a new phone. I’m so excited! I’ll definitely share my thoughts on it. Good times.
Here’s to a lovely week! Cool breezes and warm sunshine to you all. 🙂
