The weather is turning to summer in waves. As I write, we had a day in the 90s but tomorrow is supposed to be highs in the low 70s. This is how people get sick!
I started my week with birthday cake! My co-workers had cake, flowers, and a gift card for Starbucks for me. I’m so lucky! I work with really lovely people.
On Wednesday, I got to be on an interview panel for my new boss. I didn’t think it would be so soon but so it goes for this particular position. We had a fair amount of candidates and as before, the panel members asked set questions. Mine was a stumper and required some thought, which was interesting. The candidates did well with the time constraints and we all seemed to agree on a “favorite.” We should know who got it soon, I think. I’m just glad that I had a part in the process as I do find it fascinating.
I will miss my exiting boss. She will be leaving us and our department better than she found us. Our office is more welcoming because of the changes that have happened over the years. There have been staff changes but we might be a bit more settled now and hopefully we can keep up the good work we’ve been doing.
We ended the week with a drive to Walnut Creek to take the truck in for service. After that bit was done, we had dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I so love that place! I always say I’m going to get something different but I don’t. I ordered my mizithra yet again and I have no regrets. It was so good! It’s always so good!
We finally checked out the new Barnes and Noble store at The Streets. It’s bright and spacious and I ended up getting two books, The End of Everything and Irish Folk & Fairy Tales. I chose them on a whimsy. It’ll be nice to have a book in hand to read. I almost bought a blank book but I still have others to fill so I’ll wait until next time perhaps.
I was thinking recently about how I liked writing nonsense about my ordinary life or writing my stories and how right now, I’m not doing either of those things. It’s not as if I don’t have two stories right now that I could write and no matter how ordinary my life, it’s worth writing about if only for looking back some time in the future. And as I write this, random bits are floating about. Let’s start with those, bullet style.
- Someone posted in an FB fan account about one of my favorite fellas and how his former partner is suing him for domestic abuse. And I was SHOCKED. I have been so shocked that I haven’t talked about with any of my friends, one or two of whom also count him as a favorite. I’ve done the web searches and have only seen the woman’s side of it and nothing of him. I don’t know what to think, so I suppose I’ll reserve judgement. Perhaps if others come out with stories of their own about him, then we’ll know. It saddens me no matter, true or not. If true, WHAT THE HELL?! If not true, then WHAT THE HELL?! So I suppose the reaction is WHAT THE HELL?! in any case. Alas.
- I just finished The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty. I really very much enjoyed it! It was very well done even if in my head, I probably pronounced all the names wrong. I find it interesting that my latest reads have not been romance novels of any sort yet that’s what I’m writing. It feels a little strange.
- I should be pausing my shopping but this weekend I bought books at Barnes and Noble, a bandana and hat from Cowboy Tears, two t-shirts from Jordan Davis’ site, and a dress and pair of pants from Old Navy. Everything was on sale, so that’s the plus. The minus is I need to stop shopping! Oh well, at least I’ll have cute pieces.
We’ve watched our Sunday shows. MobLand is nuts! The last bit of The Last of Us was controlled craziness. Can’t wait until Tuesday and the last of Andor. We watch so much tv, eh?
