counting down

I do love working for a school district. We’re nearing the end of the school year and I’m trying not to count down to the last day of school but the number is hovering just at the edge of my awareness. (It’s 13 as I write.) I’m looking forward to the days without the phone calls or emails from parents. I wish I could tell them better news but most of the time, the message is, “You’ve got to wait.” And so it goes.

TV

Andor – I’m trying to find the words to describe how much this show broadened the Star Wars world for me. The second season was perfection and as a whole, the show brought depth to the SW universe. I really loved the show and how it segued wonderfully into Rogue One.

The Last of Us – Not sure how I didn’t cry during the latest episode. I’m glad the show doesn’t focus so much on the creatures. I’d rather spend time with the people and how they live in such times. So much angst. It’s great!

MobLand – I really dig watching Tom Hardy play Harry. He’s so calm but you know that darkness simmers beneath the surface. He plays the cool and collected so well.

My childhood doll, Tiny

Random musings in bullet points:

  • My childhood doll, Tiny, resurfaced during our move and I finally got to putting her in the wash for cleaning. She’s still in one piece! Well, mostly. I’ve had her since I was a baby, so she’s more than half a century old. She smells like fresh laundry now.
  • Heard while watching golf this weekend– the name of my MMC in my latest story! What are the chances that I’d name my character the same name as a golfer I’d never heard of? The names aren’t uncommon but I could have sworn I did a web search before settling on his name. Or maybe I didn’t care.
  • My 4K copy of Captain America: Brave New World arrived this week. It’s our Sunday night movie. (Yes, I’m writing this as we’re watching it.) Looking good in 4K! Also, it’s interesting to see Harrison Ford in this movie after watching Star Wars the other night.

The weekends are never long enough, I tell ya.

Here’s to a good week before the holiday weekend!
