the last of summer break

The new school year is upon us! Summer break isn’t long enough. Oh, but at least I won’t hear, “But school starts on Monday,” like I don’t already know, like I don’t work at the school district office. 🙄

You know that saying, “Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part,”? Yeah, the notion has gone through my mind more than once this past week.

Friday was Convocation. It’s the one day of the year where we all gather to bring in the new school year. This time it was at Liberty HS, so I didn’t have to worry about parking since I needed only to walk from the office to the school. Good way to get in those steps! I got to see my favorites (two of the three registrars) and it was a great way to get away from the desk and enjoy being around people who weren’t aggravating me. 😀

Congrats to the 20 years!
Congrats on the 20 years!

Next year I’ll be on the list of employees there 20 years. YOWSA! Where has the time gone? I might be a little bummed that we won’t be at Liberty HS next year since I started my time with the district at LHS but that’s all right. I think we’ll be at Heritage HS? Hmmm. I’ll let you know this time next year. 😉

After Convocation, we went to the gym across the breezeway to take our annual ID photos. I’ve worn the same shirt in my last four ID photos. I might not mind this year’s shot. I seem a little tanned. I do like that you can’t really see the gray in my hair. 😉

Thursday was Staff Development Day, which means the gathering of all the teachers. DO staff volunteers to pass out the teacher schedules and it’s always another nice way to get away from the office. I felt rather refreshed being out there with the relaxed faces.

I like this spot

I chatted with a couple of the teachers and my spot had shade for longer than the other side. Nice. I walked over to the A building but my friend was not in so I didn’t get to spend more time away from my desk. Darn it!

the new desk

We spent Saturday morning putting my new desk together. It’s another piece from Ikea. I love that I have a regular setup now instead of squeezing my stuff on the small desk that’s now on the side. I can spread my things! I might have to open up my other boxes of bobbleheads because I’ve always wanted to display my bobbleheads and why keep them in the box?

Now I have no excuse not to fix up my home office. I need to organize stuff and probably get rid of stuff. It’ll take awhile because I’m sentimental and a bit lazy. Maybe more than a bit…

Random stuff…

  • The Galaxy Z Fold8 has been announced and why am I trying to convince myself to seriously consider this new phone?! It’s ridiculous but gosh, if I’m going to go for a fold type phone, that passport form factor is SO TEMPTING.
  • I’m not ready for school to start. It’s silly but I feel weirdly anxious because I have so much work on my desk and I feel oddly behind about it all.
  • When I shake my desk a bit, the bobbles bobble. Ahhh, when I loved baseball. I went ahead and unboxed my bobbles of Nick Swisher and Bobby Crosby. They’re so old but they deserve to be out in the open.
  • Maybe I should find that lamp I know we have somewhere for my desk.
