17 August – lundi
- How is it already Monday morning?
- Last evening’s news about Hayden Panettiere was just so heartbreaking. They’ll always mention Heroes or Nashville but I’ll remember her as that little girl in Remember the Titans. Gutwrenching. The world’s a little dimmer without her in it.
- I had a productive day at work– submitted a requisition, prepped the INTRA appeals, put in work order to put up the plaques and name plates, scheduled appointments. I even had a bit of time to collate some of my denials! Go me!
18 August – mardi
- I was annoyed at work a couple of times and it wasn’t even just because of parents. Well, one parent seemed a little high or something. They filled out a form and under the student name, they used their own name. Good thing I was able to work out the student’s name with a little detective work. Ye gods.
- I am still pondering what kind of case I should get for my Z Fold8. I’m feeling indecisive. Maybe I’ll just keep the case I have now until it breaks down or something.
- While scrolling through my YouTube feed, there was a video about the band Player. They had a song called “Baby Come Back,” which was part of my childhood. I was stopped by the thumbnail of the band members. Was that Ronn Moss, he of The Bold and the Beautiful? Yes, it was him. How did I not know until that moment that the actor who played Ridge Forrester was bass player for band whose song was “Baby Come Back”?
19 August – mercredi
- Happy Birthday, Bob!
- I’ve gotten to the point where I can start filing the docs on my desk at work. Joy! ๐
- Why can’t I make up my mind about a case for my Z Fold8?
- I should never look at my work email when I’m home.
20 August – jeudi
- My dad liked to keep his house stocked with extra things like toilet paper, mouthwash, cans of Spam, boxes of Kleenex. I took some cans of Spam and two bottles of mouthwash. The Spam is long gone but the two bottles of mouthwash lasted until the other day. Every time I used it, I thought of my dad and how this bottle was meant for him to use. We bought more mouthwash from our recent Costco run and I’ve started using a new bottle. I didn’t finish the other bottle. I put it under my sink. Just for a little while…
- It’s interesting how I find myself sometimes drawn to the music I heard in my childhood. Music is so magical in the way it can remind you of how a moment– yesterday, decades ago, last week, a month ago, it doesn’t matter– just beyond your awareness. Music can be a time machine, a mood lifter, a soft blanket of familiarity. Some of the soft rock of the 70s used to make me roll my eyes but now I welcome the sounds as forgotten memories or moods surface.
- How do I know most of the words to Olivia Newton-John’s song “Please Mr. Please”?!
- I am so glad that tomorrow is vendredi. (Yes, I’m trying to practice my French.) I get to wear some kind of denim! Maybe I’ll go casual and wear a t-shirt with the denim. I get to end my work day with a meeting. I’m always glad to get out of the office. ๐
21 August – vendredi
- I have three minutes before it’s time for me to start my getting ready for work routine.
- I’m surprised and intrigued about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ move to the UK. Most curious! (I am absolutely Team Sussex.)
- These past few weeks, I’ve been thinking that maybe I’m actually pulling away from this whole Riley Green thing but no, apparently I’m not. The intensity of my regard seems to ebb and flow at an interesting pace.
- I’m thinking ahead for my November novel and I don’t know who will play my MMC. How is that possible?
- Time’s up. Gotta get ready for work!
- Happy Birthday Thomas Beaudoin! This one makes a great muse. ๐
- Yes to the weekend! I’m home now and just sent off my futureme.org letter. Apparently I’ve only been writing them on Thomas’ birthday the last three years. I ponied up for the premium membership ($12 a year) and I’m going to start sending myself more letters because it’s a super treat to get them randomly. Maybe I’ll write letters whenever it’s the bday of one of my favorites. Hmm, that’s a thought.
22 August – samedi
- Helped put together the Kallax for R’s room. We could call his the media room because it’s books, DVDs/blu-rays, and games. ๐
- Finally finished Iron Flame!
- I have two old Sony digicams, the DSC-W350 and the DSC-W830. On paper, the W830 is the better camera. It’s 20.1 megapixels and it’s newer. But goodness, it’s SLOW. The W350 is 14.1 megapixels and it’s faster but the photos are not as nice. I want to try and carry one of them just for fun. It’s probably going to be the slow one. But who knows. ๐
- I’m really digging Jordan Davis’ latest single, “Mess.” It’s really good.
23 August – dimanche
- Doing a load of laundry this morning. Sheets. Maybe I’ll do another load after this one.
- Whole house fan is on and I’m a little chilly because I have my window open and I’m in the direct line of the breeze. Brrr! But it’s a good thing! ๐
- I just picked a case. I’m going with Thinborne. I want something nicer than the serviceable but plasticky feeling case I have right now. Plus I want something thinner. It’s a nice phone and it should have a good case.
TV
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe – This show is just so much fun to watch, from opening credits to the end. Is Stuart meant with whichever Denise happens to be in the universe? The one he’s with now isn’t the original one, right? Is this something we’re not supposed to really notice? Will it come to a head later? Anything can happen!
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – The puppets episode! It was so silly but it still served purpose and it was fun. The show does use the words, “strange new worlds,” so we’re bound to have something strange, right? I thought it was an amusing watch. Poor Spock, he’s having some issues this season, isn’t he?
I’m glad that I’ve finished Iron Flame. The question now is do I start Onyx Storm or take a break from that world and finally read one of my Book of the Month books? I’ve read a couple of the first pages of Heart of Glass and I think I should keep going with that one since it’ll probably be an easy read. Maybe. ๐
I’m definitely spending a lot of time with the Z Fold8 and I like it! I’m still watching videos about it, just to see if I’ll learn anything new. I might do a little review of it just for me later on. Maybe along the lines of, “A month with the Z Fold8.” It’s a cool piece of technology and I know that I’m lucky that I can check it out as my secondary mobile. I do wish it was my main phone sometimes but it’s probably best that it isn’t. I am determined to make it my weekend phone but that might mean actually giving the number out. Hmm.
Here’s to a good week. Find that bit of beauty and moment of joy…
