26 September – lundi
- Riley Green song on the boom box – “Don’t Come Any Closer”
- Happy Birthday, Sabina!
- I’m off today because it’s fall break and I decided that I’d make myself some long weekends. On the calendar is going out to Kaiser and getting my flu and COVID-19 vaccines. Then I’m either going to go to the movies or get Mabuhay for lunch. It’s a toss up. ๐
- I was so proud of myself for not actually buying anything at Riley’s concert but before bed last night, I used that Mountain View discount code to buy the tour bandana. Better than waiting in line and buying it at the concert? Maybe. I tell ya, Riley is an expensive hobby!
- And speaking of Riley and concerts, he just announced his 2027 tour. I looked at the dates and I said myself, “Whew, he’s not coming out this way! I can save my concert dollars,” to hide the slight (?) disappointment that he wasn’t coming out this way even though I just saw him the other night. I can say literally in this instance, right? I literally just saw him the other night and I’m disappointed that his next tour isn’t stopping by this way?
- Obviously this means that I am even more smitten by Riley Green. Oh, that’s a good word for it. Smitten by Riley Green. I should make that my hashtag for him. Ha!
- I got the two jabs, ordered Mabuhay, picked it up after waiting a few minutes, then got a voicemail telling me (in Tagalog) to come back because they forgot the egg in my longsilog. I turned around and got the egg for my silog and the nice lady gave me some lumpia for my troubles. Needless to say, I ate all of the lumpia, half the silog, and made three lunches for work this week with the other half of the silog and the chicken adobo and rice I had ordered. SO GOOD.
- I ended up staying at home after the yummy meal. I did read a little. I watched a lot of YouTube (two recaps of the latest episode of Lanterns and other stuff). Oh, I should have listened to my audiobook. Gotta get through that one. I might be close to finishing.
- I keep forgetting that I got my jabs today until I lift my arm and feel the soreness.
29 September – mardi
- Song: “Girl on TV” LFO
- We caught up on Ted Lasso last night. Can I confess that I just LOVE Roy Kent? I’m sure it’s no surprise. Lots of people love Roy Kent. I love how he can convey SO MUCH in the F word. It’s how he says it that tells you what he’s thinking. I love that about him. He’s such a treat to watch.
- I think the jabs have got me a bit muddled. I keep hot flashing. ๐
- We all know how much I adore Tyler Rich, right? Well, he has a place online called Wolfpack. He posts stuff and fans are encouraged to post as well. It started off as a free place but he recently added a paid tier. I have yet to pull the trigger on the paid tier. On the one hand, I want to support him and I do as much as I can. Almost $10 a month doesn’t seem like much. On the other hand, almost $10 a month doesn’t seem like much until you add it up over an extended amount of time. I’m already in two fan clubs and the Wolfpack is more like a membership. I consider myself part of the Wolfpack but for now, I’m staying free.
- Song: “Make It Rain” Riley Green
30 September – mercredi
- Song: “Worst Way” Riley Green
- I had a $20 gift at Shop and it was due to expire in the next few days, so I took a gander at some items and decided on a bandana from Duck Club Bourbon. I ended up paying a little over $5 because of the dang shipping but hey, I have a DCB Tiffany Bandana on its way. Neat! I should probably mention that I also have a bandana on the way from Cowboy Tears as well as the one from Riley Green. I need to start utilizing these bandanas!
- My arm is getting less sore every day. Huzzah!
- We watched the latest episode of Ted Lasso and THEY DID NOT JUST DO THAT! ๐ No spoilers but I had a bad feeling about what was going to happen. I was very teary eyed at the end of the episode and then there was the “in memory of Anthony Head” and I almost started bawling. ALAS!
01 October – jeudi
- Song: “P.O.S.” Riley Green
- I woke up two minutes after my alarm went off. My phone doesn’t make a noise, trusting that my watch will do the job. It took about two minutes for that. Oops!
- I have the whole house fan on right now. It’s been too hot these past couple of days and it looks like it’ll be summer warm for at least a week more. I WANT SWEATER WEATHER.
- Long weekend number two of Fall Break has begun! This on is four days, so I went ahead and put my desk companions in the drawer. They deserve to rest too. ๐
- I added my Riley Green CD to my digital library. iTunes tried to call the CD an iTunes exclusive. Umm, nope, this one is the Amazon exclusive. I’m almost crazy enough to consider buying the Target CD because it has a different bonus track. What kind of nonsense is that? Riley Green, did you record an EP’s worth of tracks to sprinkle as bonus tracks at different retailers? If so, that’s slightly nefarious.
- Song: “Workin’ on Me” Riley Green
- At work today, I spent some time going through an expulsion hearing packet. I get to redact stuff in hearing packets and this one had an lengthy police report, so I got to read all the details. This one was straightforward and didn’t give me the icks like the one I had read last semester. One of these days (in a couple of years?), I might have to tell the tale of that one.
02 October – vendredi
- Song: “She Wrecked Me” Riley Green
- Whole house fan is on again. It’s under 65F at the moment, so it’s a good time to cool down the house. If I can get the whole house under 70F, then maybe I have hope in not turning on the a/c until the afternoon. We shall see!
- Song: “Hard to Leave” Riley Green
- It was a lazy day for me. I did read a bit as well as listen to my audiobook. I still have about two hours left on that one.
03 October – samedi
- TV is on college football – Notre Dame at North Caroline. Go Irish!
- Happy Birthday, Frances!
- I haven’t talked about last week’s Homecoming Parade! It started a little late (apparently the JV game went over) but I didn’t mind. It was nice being out, drinking some wine. ๐ How about some photos!
- It’s always fun going to the parades downtown. Seeing all the people come out and support the local high school feels so small town.
- Got an alert from FB for a friend request. When I saw who it was, I accepted right away! How could I not? He was one of my favorites in an old life. We had been FB friends before but then we weren’t. I think I tried to friend him again but it never went anywhere so I let it go. (He might have been offline for aI was surprised to get the request but happy to accept. I just looked through his profile page and lo, he had a heart attack a couple of years ago? Oh no! Looks like he’s doing all right now. Whew!
04 October – dimanche
- Song: “She Wrecked Me” Riley Green
- It’s been a stay at home weekend for me. I do not mind at all! I’ll probably stay home tomorrow too. Plus the weather is being uncooperative in the sweater weather department. Oh no, we’re having a heatwave of sorts. Triple digits. Such BS.
- I have pictures of me in uniform from an old life. But the one above was my last day at that job. It was a nice day, actually. I didn’t have to wear my uniform and my co-workers had cake and food for me. I kept in touch with a couple of them but these days it’s keeping up with some of them on FB.
- I really don’t miss the uniform, I can tell you that much! I still have the uniform tops and trousers and my name tag.
TV
Lanterns – Season finale dropped this evening. I really enjoyed the show and I wouldn’t mind seeing another season, especially if they could figure out how to bring back Kyle Chandler. I wonder if Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart will appear in any upcoming movies. Maybe? I wouldn’t mind. ๐
Ted Lasso – I know I already mentioned it above but I just have to say, WHY?! No, I get it. And it was well done but damn. Pull those heart strings.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – I really enjoyed this latest season. Was it uneven? Maybe it was but you know what, I embraced the whimsy and liked how it was different and weird. We get one more season. I’m glad but I know I’ll be sad when it’s over.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe – The first season has concluded. I definitely enjoyed it and am so glad it’s getting a second season. Whew! It’s such a fun show, especially if you watched and liked TBBT.
WRITING
Still trying to figure out what to write for the November Novel. A new story? A story I started but didn’t finish? A prequel to the story I’m currently writing? Who’s playing the FMC? (It’s either RG or TB, if I’m honest with myself.)
The prequel to the story I’m currently writing is the leader so far. I know the story I want to tell for the FMC but I think I should tell the story for the MMC too. But how do I tell their stories at the same time when they won’t see each other until the end? Actually, it won’t be at the end. They’ll see each other twice before the meet. Could I stretch those moments into 50k-plus words? Hmm, maybe I can. I just need to keep thinking about it. I have less than a month!
I love these long weekends during break. They are the best!
Here’s to a new week! ๐
