rainy saturday

the calendar claims
spring’s dawn is near
but winter holds fast
the wind’s chill nipping
the gathered clouds dark
the blossoms upturned
facing each raindrop defiant
the calendar claims
sunshine’s gaze will shine
but winter reminds us
with every flash of lightning
with every clap of thunder
dreary darkness survives
even past the night

Rainy days make me even lazier…
