TWITL – week nine – winter’s reminder

It’s March now but the weather this past week was wintery (for here anyway). I didn’t mind at all since it meant wearing sweaters and such. Besides, it’s still technically winter and can we just enjoy the cooler weather for a bit longer, please? I’m in no hurry for springtime…

mimosa #1

Even though Saturday was a rather chilly day, we headed out to the farmers market for some drinks. There’s something about sitting outside, drinking mimosas, and watching people make their way through the market. I always feel like I’m living the dream in those moments because what more could I want than to have a mimosa on hand while spending time with my one and only?

Saturday was the first time I went out without having a mask on me. I meant to bring one even though I knew I didn’t need one and apparently that stuck in my head because I walked out the door without one. It was strange! But I really didn’t need a mask since all the places we visited didn’t require them for vaccinated people and no one is really checking nowadays. I think at this point, the only place I’m really wearing a mask is at work…

WRITING

“Alessandra & Thiago” – I don’t even have a working title for this story. I have an ending (probably) and I’m trying to figure out the beginning and middle. The beginning sort of reminds me of the story I wrote in November but I’ll hopefully take it in a different direction. It’s always interesting when I start the story at the end (or near end) since I’m usually horrible with the ending of my stories. This one is a romance, of course, and some characters I’ve used in other stories appear in this one. I suppose you could say they’re all in the same universe. I haven’t gotten to the point of writing the pandemic into any of my stories. I wonder if I ever will…

shipping is more than the item...

TV

Star Trek: Picard [Paramount+] – It’s back! The first season seems like so long ago but it didn’t seem to matter once the first episode of season two began. Even with the big action scenes, there’s something quiet and introspective about this show and I really like that about it. Of course, I really loved any and all scene with Santiago Cabrera because he’s just so much fun to watch. I can’t wait to see more of him throughout the season.

LIFE STUFF

I had my eye on something to buy and today I visited the website and saw that they’re having a sale and I thought, okay, I’ll pull the trigger and buy. I had everything ready and then when I got to the shipping part, I came to hard stop. Shipping would have cost MORE than the item I was buying and as much as I want it, I just couldn’t justify it. So I left the item in my cart and then later received an email that said, hey, free shipping. So I went back to my cart, typed in the discount code and lo, sorry, no free shipping to my address. I know it’s because it’s coming from Europe but DAMN. I suppose I could tell myself that if I tried to buy this item at regular price, then what I could pay now is probably almost less than what it would cost. But I can’t talk myself into it at the moment. Ah well…

how I started my day

Getting closer to the new boss’ first day! Right now the interim boss is out so I had two days so far in which I was able to get some tedious work done. I feel like I’m holding my breath waiting for something that I can’t handle on my own because it requires and administrator. I wish it was spring break now but that’s in two weeks. I’m definitely going to take some time off during break because I do like having long weekends…

One of those inevitable moments approaches, the kind with soft sorrow and gratitude and memories. We’re in a holding pattern, knowing the day is near but not knowing when. When it’s time to let go, may it be in a dream…
