TWITL – week twenty-six – summer break

It’s my break during summer! I’ve gotten into the habit of taking the week of 4th of July off from work so here I am on Monday night, up past my bedtime in the hopes of getting this post up before it turns to Tuesday. We’ll see how that goes, eh?

4th of July

4th of July – We got up early, like a work day, so that we could pick our spot along the parade route. We almost sat at the wine bar but ended up getting our chairs and planting ourselves along the sidewalk, which offered a great view. I think we were out before the parade for longer than the parade lasted! I didn’t mind. I had two mimosas and got to spend some time outside, which is always a good thing.

TV

Stranger Things [Netflix] – Another season in the books. We watched the last two episodes that dropped on Friday. Well done! It’s really such a good show and I look forward to the next season…

The Terminal List [Amazon Prime] – When I found out that Taylor Kitsch was going to be on this show, which is based on a book, I read the book. It was a good story but I forgot a lot of details by the time the show aired, so it felt like a new story to me. My biggest complaint about this show– the LIGHTING. Why is EVERYTHING so dark and muted? Even the scenes in daylight were dark. It was so damn annoying! As for the show itself? Well, I’ve watched a lot of military style movies and shows and I don’t know why, but I had a hard time thinking of Chris Pratt as a commanding officer of a SEAL team. I just couldn’t get into it at all. I thought Kitsch did a good job with his part. I wasn’t sure if his character arc would follow his book counterpart so I was dutifully intrigued. I don’t know if I’d recommend this show as if it weren’t for Kitsch, I would have probably zoned out by episode two…

Ms. Marvel [Disney+] – I am digging this show a lot! I love the location change in the most recent episode to Pakistan and seeing Kamala learn more about her heritage and her powers. Definitely a show to watch…

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds [Paramount+] – I might have cried a little during the most recent episodes. There’s just something about this show that has really drawn me in and I have liked everything about it. Part of me wonders if I should watch Star Trek: Discovery for more insight on this current crew but perhaps I’ll leave that for another time…

Well, it’s after midnight and I’m tired. Here’s to a restful week!
