TWITL – week 35 – good bye, August

We’re almost through August. It’s the longest month of work. Or maybe it just feels like it because it’s the first month of school and it’s a very busy time. Whatever it is, we’re headed for our first 3-day weekend of 2024-25 and I am so ready for it!

Wednesday – 28 August

Happy Birthday to my niece! She’s 15 years old today. Where has the time gone?! She got her learners permit this morning. Good for her! What a way to start her birthday. 🙂

  • The weather is heating up so I didn’t do my walk to the library today or yesterday. Darn it! This means I haven’t been reading the hard cover book. I think I’ll try and finish that one this weekend.
  • I was checking out an old page of mine online and realized that I left the sheriff’s department 20 years ago. TWENTY YEARS! Where the hell has time gone?!
  • Oh, also 20 years ago was the Xena convention where I was interviewed for the fans extra disc on the season 6 DVD release of Xena. Yowsa.

  • Under the Surface – Diana Urban – I finished the novel today! I liked it. It was suspenseful and thrilling with some high school drama thrown in. The characters were young American adults on a trip to Paris. It had a great mix of modern sensibility and character driven action. Even though some of the characters frustrated me, they were supposed to do so. I cannot fault a novel that can make me feel. Well done!… I read the book while having my Calm app play Rainy Paris Night. Great way to set the mood…
  • We kept it low-key for this three day weekend. We went out on Saturday for a few hours but that was it. I do love these lazy days. I might like them too much.
  • So, yet another controversy with the NaNoWriMo organization. I just logged in and I’ve been doing National Novel Writing Month through the site for twenty years this year. Will I still do it this year? Well, I’ll write my novel and keep track on my socials but will I do so at the site? I don’t know. Maybe they’ll shut themselves off and I won’t have to worry about it. It just sucks that they’re sucking so hard. Alas!

WRITING

I have a story or two in my head and need to settle down and just write one of them. At this rate, I might have to wait until November to write. I love the challenge of writing in November but I should probably just get down to it and WRITE something that I want other people to read. I haven’t written much this year at all. I’m tapped out of inspiration and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s just that time in life. Even writing these blog entries feels like pulling teeth sometimes. Alas, yet again…

a cold one

The best thing about this week is that it’s only four days of work. Glorious! Hope everyone has a good one…
