TWITL – week 36 – still feeling the heat

The calendar says September but the season is definitely still summer. So put away your PSL stuff for the moment, okay? It’s not time for falling leaves and cooler temperatures. Autumn doesn’t officially start for a couple of weeks and I have a feeling we’ll still be basking in this summer-like heat even then.

dimanche – le 8 septembre (I’m trying to practice my French)

  • Even though the work week was only four days, it felt like a full work week. That’s some trick, don’t you think?
  • National Novel Writing Month – So the NaNoWriMo organization has become problematic. It’s the most polite I can say about the whole situation. I’m still going to write my 50k words novel in November but I don’t know if I’ll still be updating my profile at the NaNoWriMo website. Will they even still be around by the time November rolls around? Regardless, I’m still going to write something because I’m so wired for it after more than a decade…
  • Social media networks – Even though I post everyday to Threads and Spoutible (which crossposts to Bluesky and Mastodon), I spend the most time at Threads. I think if I could find more interesting people who post at Bluesky, I’d spent a fair amount there as well. I find it interesting that when folks talk about the possible replacements to Twitter, Threads and Bluesky get the most attention. Spoutible is never part of the conversation. I like Spoutible well enough but some of the folks I follow are so serious. I like the lighter fare but they’re not as prevalent as the other networks. I probably need to find other people to follow on Spoutible.
  • Football season has started. Oh boy.
  • Tomorrow is the Apple Event. I’m excited because the iPhone 16 Pro might be my newest phone. What, not the Max, you wonder? No, if I upgrade this year, it’ll be to the Pro, no Max, because I want something smaller since I carry deux mobiles. Maybe with a smaller phone, I might pony up for the 1TB for storage. Maybe not. We’ll see. Honestly, another big reason I want to upgrade is to get to the USB-C. The only bummer I see with that is perhaps needing USB-C wired earbuds. (I think it’s a good idea to have wired earbuds just in case.) I’ll probably sneak glances at any liveblogs of the Apple Event while I’m at work.
  • Happy Star Trek Day! ?
  • Spooks (MI-5 here in the US) – We’ve gotten to the seasons where one primary storyline is the whole season. I’m not watching with total diligence but it is nice to see Richard Armitage in something before Strike Back. 😉

  • I have to admit, I love the Snapchat filters! I’ve found some in recent days that are rather ridiculous but fun too, like the one above. The fun filters would make good profile pictures at my various social media, eh?
  • The weather looks to be cooling down this upcoming week and I am so glad. It’s not quite sweater weather yet but we’ll get there. Hoping the weather really does cool down by the 28th because we have a concert in Sacramento and it’ll be outside.

Here’s to a good week to all! May the breezes be cool while the sunshine bright…
