It has been way too long since I’ve written here! So many changes since I wrote back in January. Let’s see how far I get.
We moved! And yes, the actual moving SUCKED. The actual moving day wasn’t so bad because the movers had the big stuff and whatever we packed. But the rest of the weekend (moving day was a Friday) was all packing up the “small” stuff, moving all that stuff, then cleaning. Oh my goodness, the cleaning SUCKED. But it’s done and we’re in our new spot for at least a year (or thereabouts).
Our movers were amazing, btw. This is the third time we’ve used them and they were great.
It’s different being in a new place but I don’t miss the old place as much as I thought I would. We were there for nine years but for some reason we never really unpacked everything the way that we should have. I do miss how close we were to downtown but my drive to work is only two songs, so that’s not so bad.
The new place is bigger (yah!) and newer, so that’s pretty cool. The primary bedroom is big enough for all our furniture, which is delightful. The kitchen is bigger too and the living room (pictured above) is quite spacious. The two other bedrooms are probably just as small as the ones in the other house. We are not unpacked as much as we want to be, of course, but we’ll get there.
Work changes abound!
Late February, our district nurse left us for a new position. It was a great opportunity for her and we were happy for her, of course. We might have been a little sad for us too. It’s not like she’s far away so it’s not like we won’t see her now and again, I’m sure.
This past week, it was announced that my boss would be leaving at the end of the school year. I AM BUMMED! I am also not surprised because my bosses usually stay on average 2-3 years. The one before my current one was with us for five years but that also included lockdown time and time was different then. I will be very sad when my boss is gone and she will definitely leave us better than she found us. I am so grateful for what she has brought to our department.
TV THINGS
Severance – I am hooked on this show. How do I know? Well, after every episode, I’d watch the recaps and theories on YouTube. Season two was a wild ride and I hope it doesn’t take three years for season three because I must know more! I would definitely recommend it because mind benders are always fun times. 😉 And I have to say, waiting a week between episodes isn’t such a bad thing when the seasons are short.
The White Lotus – We caught up on this one and then watched the latest season. This show is freakin’ wild but wow, the location are beautiful! Each season is so different from the next but they are all compelling in their own way. Season three felt the quietest of the show so far but just as intriguing to watch.
Paradise – We just started this show but Sterling K. Brown always has my attention. It’s been super interesting so far.
MobLand – Tom Hardy. Pierce Brosnan. Helen FREAKIN’ Mirren. It’s a volatile mix but such a great watch so far.
The Residence – What a fun show! I love murder mysteries and this one was so good. It was like a drawn out Knives Out (for a modern reference) thing. I loved it.
Mickey 17 – This was such an interesting movie. I enjoyed it. Pattinson was really good. How did he do that to his voice?
G20 – This was also quite good! I do like when the main character is a kickass woman and wow, Viola Davis was super kickass. Also, Antony Starr was pretty good.
Val Kilmer died. I will remember that smile of his, the volleyball scene in Top Gun, his Madmartigan in Willow, and his excellent turn as Doc Holliday in Tombstone. I always had a soft spot for him (Vals unite!) and his appearance on Top Gun: Maverick made me cry. He will always have a piece of my fangirl heart…
Riley Green is still the main music of my life right now. I just cannot quit him. What is going on?! And oi, my phone is full of photos and videos I’m saving. It’s out of control. But I don’t mind because he’s the Muse for my current story and it always helps to have inspiration from an active fangirl crush.
Jordan Davis’ tour is making a stop at the Concord Pavilion and of course I had to buy tickets. I had a Parish Gold code so I was able to buy before the general public could. I wanted to get VIP but OMG, the tickets were very pricey. I ended up with very decent seats but no VIP. Oh well, it’s not like I haven’t already met him two times.
Tyler Rich’s album Hello California is pretty good. Hoping he has more tour dates because we weren’t able to see him in March. Fingers crossed that something comes up on a weekend!
WRITING
“Worst Way” – Still working on this story. I could probably end it but I want to spend a bit more time with the characters. I am almost to 50K words but could probably stretch it out to more, depending on what I add.
“I Want Who You Already Are” – I haven’t even looked at this story in a couple of months. I should try to finish it sometime. Maybe in the summer, after the other story?
“Twin Fires” – This one is definitely a working title. I don’t know if I’ll keep it but it’ll do for now because yes, there are twins in it. I came up with a lot of the story while falling asleep and somehow remembered a lot of it later. Just not sure who’s playing the twins. Current muse, a former muse, a new muse? (I don’t have a new muse.)
I should promise to write more often and maybe I will. At least once a month but it seems to be when the mood strikes. We shall see.
Until next time!
