heating up

The weather heated up this week and I am so not ready for it. Thankfully the a/c in our new place works much better than our old place, so it doesn’t feel like we’re waiting energy trying to cool down the house without the house cooling down. I just wish spring weather would last a little longer. We hit triple digits this weekend. Ye gods!

MOVIES & TV

MobLand – Season finale dropped. WOW. I definitely recommend this show. I pretty much love watching Tom Hardy and I especially liked this restrained version of him in this show. Pierce Brosnan was great, Helen Mirren was amazing (she really makes me detest Maeve– a testament to Ms. Mirren’s talent), Paddy Considine is fantastic. I guess I mean to say that the case is rather stellar. The show is kinda wild, which I love, and it’s crazy that Tom Hardy’s Harry is the steadying presence of the ensemble. I definitely recommend it.

Murderbot – This show is so much fun. I’m really enjoying it. I love how Alexander Skarsgård is so deadpan in those voiceovers. The episodes are short, which I don’t mind.

Baahubali: The Beginning & Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – We had actually started the first movie awhile back but started it again and finished it. The second movie was not English dubbed so we had to depend on the subtitles. Fantastic movies! The musical numbers always feel a little odd but they do expand the plots so they’re not totally unnecessary. Plus the music and dancing are so pretty! The movies were very entertaining. They were done by the same director as RRR.

Devara – We didn’t realize that when we started this one that it is is part one of a duology. Drat! It’s an entertaining Indian film, starring N.T. Rama Rao Jr., who was in RRR. The musical numbers in this one were like fancy music videos. So fun! The movie ends on a cliffhanger and I’m hoping it doesn’t take too long for the next one because I want to know what happens next!

BOOKS

Daughter of the Moon Goddess – current read – just started this one… So far, I’m intrigued. When I say that I just started it, I literally just started reading it today (Sunday, as I write).

The Ashfire King (The Sandsea Trilogy ) – just finished this one… I’m enjoying this series so far. The characters are engaging and I like the different POVs. Loving the magic and fantasy and intrigue. A fantastic read, especially because I just finished the Daevabad Trilogy and wanted to read more in that kind of world. Can’t wait to read the last book!

The Jasad Heir (The Scorched Throne ) – I am on an Egyptian fantasy ride and this one was good enough for me to want to read the next one. I almost forgot what this one was about and had to read a rundown of it. It’s a decent read. We’ll see how the next one goes.

The Daevabad Trilogy – The last book was The Empire of Gold and what a wild ride the series was! I loved all the fantasy elements and the intrigue and the action. It ended well and I might have to read the book that has stories from this same bookverse. (Might? I’ll read it eventually.)

The Random Stuff

  • I’m so glad that it’s finals week. It’ll be a fun (?) one. Hopefully I get all the transfers all squared away because I keep getting calls and emails about transfer requests.
  • The new boss will be making an appearance this week. It’ll be nice to formally meet her. This will be the first time the incoming boss gets some time with the outgoing boss.
  • I’ve been stalling on my writing so I’m trying to read more. My stories are romances yet I’m reading fantasy. Go figure. I don’t think I’ll be writing a romance fantasy so maybe I just need the “escape.”
