short month beginnings

Ahhh, February. It’s my most stressful month in terms of work because it’s transfer season! I will say that since we’ve gone digital, it feel less cluttered, at least. Even though I know I should be patient, I have already been a little frazzled by the questions that make me feel like it’s Goundhog Day. Oi!

TV

Down Cemetery Road – This was a good one! Emma Thompson was very cool. It was strange watching Ruth Wilson play a character who wasn’t as smart as Alice Morgan (Luther) but she’s still a treat to watch. The show had thrills and mystery and bad people doing bad things but also good people trying to do the right thing.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy – The most recent episode stirred emotions in me almost to the point of tears. How is it I could laugh one moment and then feel something so deep in the course of one episode? I know this show isn’t for everyone but I am finding it rather delightful even though it’s skewed towards younger folks. I believe it’s a great intro to the Star Trek universe for a new generation.

Super Bowl Halftime Show – I just wanted to say that I LOVED IT. I didn’t understand most of the words but the music and the dancing and the joy grabbed hold of me and I couldn’t stop watching. I loved all of it but my most favorite part was when Ricky Martin had his turn. Always YES to Ricky Martin! 😀

As for the actual Super Bowl – snooze fest! Even the commercials weren’t too inspiring. Who did I want to win? I was like George Kittle, hoping both teams lost. 😉

friends for decades
friends for decades

Saturday marked the birthday and retirement of one of my good friends, Debbie. She had a party at her home and it was so much fun! I did a lot of chatting and catching up with my friends. We shared various memories but also talked about what’s been going on in our lives. Good times!

The group shot of us makes me happy. Four of us were co-workers (Jessica, Debbie, Cassady, & me – Festival Cinemas!), four of us graduated high school together (Debbie, Cassady, Larry, & me – Arroyo HS!), two of us (times two) met in elementary school (Larry & I attending Dayton Elementary, Debbie & Cassidy met at theirs). We’ve seen each other through weddings, babies, high school reunions, country music bars. I love that we can get together and just start talking about anything and everything.

Notes for future posts/random musings:

  • “Construction Stage – Home Complete”
  • The childhood home will be a memory soon.
  • I should really start packing.
  • We didn’t move as much as we wanted and one of the things we moved might be damaged. A story for another time.
  • It’s fun talking tech and sci-fi and such with like minded people. Brings me joy!
  • Bangs trimmed, eyebrows waxed. My stylist will be on maternity leave soon, so I had to get my appointment in. Will I last until she’s back? I might have to try out an eyebrows place while she’s on leave.

there's Mt. Diablo

It’s been a long day. Actually, it’s been a long weekend! (I had a three day weekend.) We did something every day and as a result, we haven’t watched the latest episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and the episode dropped early! Next weekend is always a long weekend and then we have our walk-through. (Another note for a future post.) I am trying to savor these days even as I know I should prepare for the what’s coming up in a few weeks.

So here’s to a good week! Very thankful it’s a short one. 😉
