into September

31 August – lundi

  • It’s evening now and it’s cool enough outside for the a/c to be off and the windows to be open. I’m in my room and I can feel the little breeze coming from the open window. So lovely.
  • The morning was oddly hued and when I went out to go to the front building, I looked up and the sun was red. It was as if there was smoke in the air but I couldn’t smell it. It was so odd.

  • It’s so fun when your favorite YouTubers like or comment or even repost your IG stories (because you tagged them). ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • I loved how it was never stifling hot today. Whenever I left our building at work, there was a nice coolness to the air. Is the cooling just a tease? I’ll take it! I know it’s not sweater weather yet but I’ll savor these cooler moments until winter.

01 September – mardi

  • Sitting at my desk here at home. The window is open and it looks like another orange sunrise.

  • I bet we could turn off the a/c and open the windows right now.
  • Since it’s apparently World Letter Writing Day, I wrote a letter to my mom and enclosed two photos. It’s ready to be mailed. Thank goodness for forever stamps!
  • I started re-reading a story I wrote that will be 19 years old in November. So many years! And I wonder if I should write more of it but also, NINETEEN YEARS?! The POV is all over the place. I think I must have been going for omniscient or something and it’s a little jarring because I haven’t written like that in ages. The story is still interesting to me though.

02 September – mercredi

  • Actually slept without the fan on last night. Nice! I did have the window open, as I like having fresh air as I sleep. ๐Ÿ™‚
squirrel!
  • I don’t now why seeing the squirrels at work gives me a shot of delight. I love their antics. I stay out of their way and they let me take pictures of their shenanigans. It’s a win all the way! ๐Ÿ˜‰

03 September – jeudi

  • Another cool morning breeze slipping through the open window as I sit at my desk. It’s rather lovely.

  • It’s been interesting figuring out how to take a selfie with the Z Fold8. I have to take them in portrait when not using a tripod. I actually haven’t tried using a tripod since I got my new case. Hmm, I should try that.
  • I’m wearing my watch on the left wrist but with the face on the inside of my wrist, which is making it interesting to type on the laptop. I have to hold my wrist up so as not to hit the watch face on the laptop and I can tell I won’t be able to do this long. It’s different at work. Oh how I wish I could wear this watch properly on my left wrist but alas, it cannot read through the tattoo. Wish I had know that before I got the tattoo. I would have put it on the inside of my wrist instead.
I do so love my devices

04 September – vendredi

  • We finished that Netflix doc, Death of the Pastor’s Wife, yesterday. So damn tragic. It felt like a lot was unspoken but my take is that the pastor groomed her– they met when she was 13, for goodness’ sakes– and she was young and trusted this person who was supposed to be of God. It’s easy to say she should have known better but it seems like she also didn’t likely listen to her own heart and the people around her. And how dare him use her like he did. He is absolutely NOT of God and if his “followers” really believed in the good divine, they’d see that he’s an evil not worth their spit.

05 September – samedi

  • It’s the weekend! Even better, the LONG weekend. Glorious.
  • My supervisor asked me yesterday if I had a new tattoo, referring to the one on my right wrist. After explaining why I was wearing my watch on that wrist, I realized that she’s only known me since my Irish tattoo. WILD.
  • I put my Edge through the car wash yesterday morning and it’s so nice that it’s clean! We have a membership now so no excuses for a dirty vehicle!

06 September – dimanche

  • We went out in the early afternoon yesterday, first for hair trims (us) and brow wax (me), then drinks and eventually a meal. It was nice being out and about, chatting with folks and just enjoying the pretty summer day.

  • We also went to Barnes and Noble and I picked up a book on a whim (even though I have at least ten books I need to read). I thought the title was interesting and the first sentence of the summary hooked me. Later, when I looked up the author, I found that she’s Filipina. What are the chances? TV/MOVIES

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – I am personally enjoying the whimsical episodes this season. The latest one was soap opera tinged, complete with Deidre Hall playing the ship’s counselor. I personally thought it was inspired. And my heart strings pulled a little when Juliet appeared. I’m sure there are ST fans who aren’t digging the whimsy but I like it.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe – This show is such a nerdy joy to watch. I love it. I love seeing the cameos from TBBT cast and hope they surprise us with more or even the same but as different versions, as they did with Bernadette this last episode and Raj in the previous one. Keep it coming!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – This one holds up. I still get teary-eyed in the same spot.

  • Galaxy Z Fold8 – I am really enjoying this phone. Could it someday be my main phone? I don’t know. I’m not sure I’ll ever be ready to make my main number not be an iPhone. I haven’t added any payment info in the Google Wallet but I do have my IDs saved.
The Z Fold8 has been holding up rather well. The battery seems to decent enough. I’m not too fussed about the camera though it’s still easier to take pictures with my iPhone than with the Z Fold8. This might have to do with the fact that I carry the Z Fold8 in a wristlet as opposed to sliding it into my pocket when I’m out and about. The iPhone just works better for me for now. This might change.
  • Everything’s Falling – The Warning – New album alert! R discovered this band a couple of years ago and we definitely dig their sound. Their new album dropped at the end of August and it’s a great listen. I want to play their songs loud and get lost in the music. Check them out, if you’re so inclined.
  • The house across the street might have just sold. Wonder how soon they’ll move in. They might have been checking out the place yesterday. I thought I saw a kid skipping along inside the house.
  • I’ve started thinking about my November Novel. I have no idea what story I want to write. I started a Google Doc for my ideas. I feel like I’m going to end up using the same Muse of the past couple of years because he can play any kind of character. Maybe I need to start with what the characters do for a living.

Here’s to a good week! It’s already good since we’re off tomorrow. ๐Ÿ˜‰
