the bite in the air

26 October – lundi

  • The moon is shining bright in the morning sky.
the morning moon
  • Song: “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” Carly Pearce and Riley Green
  • I woke up in the middle of the night and wondered what day it was and wondered, “Is it still the weekend?” It was disappointing that it wasn’t. 😛
  • Just realized today that we “fall back” this weekend. YES! I’m all about standard time. If I got to choose, I’d stick with standard time. It just makes the most sense to me. I do not like daylight savings time at all. I hate “losing” that hour in the spring. It sucks.
the sweater I'm wearing is so old!
Monday look
  • I wore my old uniform sweater to work today. I call it that because I bought it with my uniform allowance from when I worked for the Sheriff’s Department. It had been packed away for the longest time and when I found it again, I was impressed by its condition. I think it’s going to last forever. Ha! Now it’s in my cooler weather wear rotation. It goes with the dark blue/navy skirt.

27 October – mardi

  • Song: “Saturday Night” Sam Hunt
  • I remember when all I listened to was Sam Hunt. I keep his earlier work on my active playlists because they offer comfort for some reason. I love all the songs on Between the Pines and Montevallo. I don’t have the same affinity for his later work (though I still love it all) because by the time of those releases, Sam was just another artist on my rotation.
  • Will I write my November Novel? I think I will. I’m kinda scared that I’m going to change my mind about which story to write yet I only have one story on my mind to write. So how could I switch? Impossible.
view of my usual spot
  • I didn’t get to sit in my usual spot but I did take a picture of it.

28 October – mercredi

  • Song: “P.O.S.” Riley Green
  • It’s just under 50F right now. I’m going with wearing a sweater all day. We’ll see how that goes.

29 October – jeudi

  • Song: “My Way” Riley Green
  • Happy Birthday, Will!
Journey well into the next, Sir Patrick
Journey well into the next, Sir Patrick
  • I was in the library today during my lunch break when I found out that Sir Patrick Stewart passed away yesterday. I had to close my eyes for a moment so as not to start crying. I thought about his work, especially as Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Picard, Charles Xavier in The X-Men movies. But lo, he was so much more. He lived a long, full life, sharing his talent with the world. I have Making It So on audiobook and I savored listening to him tell stories of his life. At one point, he mentioned a woman he knew and her name was Valerie. The way he said her name made me rewind to hear it again… It fills me with such melancholy that he’s no longer in this world but perhaps there is comfort in his words, in his performances, in the remembrances of his family and friends. As a fan of his work, I am so grateful for his legacy. Journey well into the next, Sir Patrick Stewart. May your spirit shine among the stars and in our hearts. We shall make it so…
clouds and the moon and a plane
  • Randomly thinking how it’s been 20 years since we’ve been in Kauai. Where has the time gone?

30 October – vendredi

  • I watched Marina Sirtis’ IG this morning about Sir Patrick Stewart and it made me cry a little. Alas.
  • Song: “Steady Flame” Jordan Davis

31 October – samedi

  • Happy Wedding Day to Angela and Robert!

01 November – dimanche

  • Word count: 2011 – total: 2011
  • Yes, I’m doing the November Novel. I am compelled every November to attempt to write a novel with at least 50,000 words. This year’s novel is called the one before The One. Even though I’ve written some words pertaining to the story, I started with fresh words this time around and I’m hoping there will be no copy and pasting. Not sure if I will still keep writing these daily posts but we shall see.

TV

VisionQuest – I am really enjoying this show. It really helps that I watched and enjoyed WandaVision and Agatha All Along because those shows add depth to the current show. I am hoping that we have a reunion of sorts at the end of the series. It would seem a shame for the twins to not join forces, eh?

wine

We went out yesterday to avoid any possible trick-or-treaters (yes, bah humbug on us), starting at the wine bar. I had a Pinot Grigio, which was very nice. Since we still had time to kill, we headed to Zephyr’s for food and drinks.

Tenderloin Tips Diablo

The tenderloin tips were delicious! Probably a bit of a light dinner but after three drinks, I was glad to have not eaten too much. Those three drinks made it an early night for me and I wasn’t able to stay up until midnight to write a bit. Oh well!

Closing out with some random musings

  • Song: “Ayaw Baya” Arthur Nery
  • We see Tyler Rich next weekend! I hope we get to see him after the show because I need to get that annual picture with him, ya know? But seriously, it would be nice to just say hello and perhaps needle him about the vinyl record. It would be nice to have Tyler’s songs on vinyl. One day, someday!
  • I listened to Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros and finished it today. I really really enjoyed it! I got a little choked up for Liam’s story (IYKYK) as well as Sloane’s (because of Liam). I loved learning a bit more about the different dragons and I laughed sometimes at the attitude displayed by both the riders and dragons. Threshing Day is definitely a nice way to stave off the wait for the next installment of the overall story, should there be one someday.
it rained while we slept

It feels late but there’s about an hour before bed. Maybe I’ll go write more of my story, add words for tomorrow’s word count. Yes, that sounds like something to do…
